The Strawberry Whey is a winner! Before I got the Strawberry, I had been using the Chocolate Whey protein for a year because the flavor was good and I didn't want to risk trying something else. But at these prices I figured I could try something different. I bought one each of Strawberry Whey, Vanilla Isolate and Chocolate Isolate. I added the Isolate because I read good things about it.it turns out that the Strawberry Whey is very good. But the Vanilla Isolate left me with a bad aftertaste. I decided I couldn't use it. I thought "Too bad" since from what I read the Isolate had some positive aspects to it. Plus I also had the Chocolate Isolate and was not looking forward to the taste of that. Yikes: two out of the three tubs I bought would be unusable. So I got the idea of combining the Whey and the Isolate. I use 1 1/4 scoop of Strawberry and 1 1/4 scoop of Vanilla and add only enough water to make a very, very thick shake. I found that thinner shakes don't taste as good, plus I get a little extra protein. The result is a very tasty Strawberry-flavored shake with no aftertaste. I get whatever benefit (who remembers?!?) from the Isolate and the Vanilla doesn't alter the good Strawberry flavor. And I get to use the two tubs of Isolate I was thinking of throwing out. I don't plan to mix Strawberry and Chocolate but will buy a Chocolate Whey and add the Chocolate Isolate to it.Bottom line: the Strawberry Whey is very good. Used by itself it had a very strong strawberry taste. With the Vanilla added the Strawberry flavor wasn't as strong (of course not!) but still had a pretty good strawberry taste. And for the two schools of thought regarding Whey vs. Isolate, I get to be a member in both. I turned what at first appeared to be a blunder (buying the Isolate) into what I think is a good compromise. I actually look forward to a delicious shake after my workout.4Artificial Sweetener SucraloseAtificial sweetener sucralose!!! Ugh. I just got two containers of this yesterday and threw them both away. I tried both the cookies and cream and chocolate peanut butter, which both tasted sickly sweet. Since the sweetness tasted so bad to me, I wondered if there was an artificial sweetener hiding in it. Sure enough, there is sucralose hidden half way down the list. I was fooled when I bought this because sugar is listed early in the list of ingredients. I hate to waste money, but the flavor was awful with icky sweetness, but more than that is I avoid all artificial sweeteners, which are poison in our bodies. Kind of defeats the purpose of a protein shake in the first place.1and considering that most protein brands taste pretty similar, I judge protein solely on priceI'm a firm believer that protein is protein, and considering that most protein brands taste pretty similar, I judge protein solely on price. In terms of the amount of protein you get per dollar, Body Fortress is far and away the best bang for your buck. Just to compare across other main brands as of 08/01/14, I multiplied the amount of protein per serving by the number of servings, to get the TRUE protein content of each package.Body Fortress: 630 g / $17.08 (subscribe and save) = 37 g / dollarOptimum Nutrition Gold Standard: 1776 g / $57.99 = 31 g / dollarBSN Syntha 6: 1056 g / $47.11 (subscribe and save) = 22 g / dollarNow Isolate: 475 g / 18.98 (subscribe and save) = 25 g / dollarSix Star: 630 g / 18.02 (subscribe and save) = 35 g / dollarAs you can see, Body Fortress is clearly the best bang for your buck, with Six Star as a close second.Edit: I was just informed that there is a class action lawsuit filed against Body Fortress, in which they are accused of engaging in a practice referred to as "amino spiking" and their true protein content is ~22-24 g per scoop as opposed to 30. It appears that other companies such as ON and Six Star do this as well, making it difficult to compare. Shame on body fortress (as well as others) for the misleading advertising.2Does what it's suppose to I guess? It is what it is. You should not expect much from a <$20 jug of protein. Will it do it's job of recovering you post-workout? Sure. Will it make you magically lift semi-trucks? Don't count on it.I tried this protein three ways thus far, all via blender mixing. It tastes sweeter than what I'm use to.First time used 2% reduced fat milk with a banana, TOO DANG SWEET!Second time, used without a banana, it was OK. It tastes like strawberry milkshake you get a Burger King or McDonald's.Third time, tried with just water, Pepto-bismal tastes better than this. Not recommended.Found this at my local walmart as well for a $1 more than the price advertised here.I'd recommend it because it's so cheap but probably better to use skim or 1% low-fat milk3Not for Shredders but for RegularsBody Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein, Chocolate Peanut Butter, 1.95 lb. (885 g)Used this for when I was starting out at the gym a couple years back. I was not a body builder by any long shot but was aiming to up my game when working out. This is just your run of the mill protein so don't expect to get jacked or look like a muscular guy by the end of the tub. Worked for what I needed it to do.4Just ok, not cheaper, marketing gimmicks1. This protein powder taste good but its extremely sweet! Too much for comfort. I mix mine with an scoop of unflavored Jarrow's protein powder of add some coffee to mellow the sweetness.2. It doesn't thicken up at all after it is mixed. I use water to mix it in and its very thin, almost like I am drinking a cup of tea. Others that I have used tend to thicken up a bit so the shake is heavier.3. Annoyingly this shake also settles very quickly so you have to shake or stir while you are drinking it.4. It really doesn't deliver more protein than the other brands it just uses a bigger scoop. So its actually Not cheaper since this almost 2 pound container has significantly less servings that other 2 pound brands.Buyers beware of the marketing strategy being used here.2Amazing Quality of Whey Protein for the Price...and BEST FLAVOR!I've been buying this brand from Walmart for a few years now. The BEST flavor is Cookies N Creme, and I have not seen it at Walmart for several months. Either they stopped carrying it or they're selling out. With my Amazon Prime, I can get it fast and on Amazon I get it for the right price. If you compare the Protein and Carb ratios of this product with the extremely expensive brands, you'll be shocked to see how great of a deal this stuff is. I packed on lots of muscle very quickly by drinking 2 of these shakes per day (one scoop/one cup of milk) and working out each muscle group heavy once per week. During recovery, this stuff BUILDS SOME SERIOUS MUSCLE.5Lots of protein, low carbs, great value, decent tasteThe title of the review pretty much sums it up. This product has everything I need in a supplement for a great price, and I'll say upfront that I plan on buying it again and recommending it to others. The taste, though... I will say that if you mix the product with water you really need to shake it good & hard to get it to mix evenly, and the taste (with water) is a little bit filmy and you can taste the artificial sweetener. I have been mixing it with almond milk, which is much better. Actually, I like half-almond milk, half-water... that's pretty good. So, all in all a very good product although there are better tasting products out there.4mike tyson putinI mixed this with some vodka and felt a boost in my energy; I like to crank up with some Migo's on my Bluetooth speakers that I bought off here, Ima get right witcha.I love WHEY PROTEIN VODKA5Great protein flavor and priceI was surprised to find I liked this a lot. Not so much the chocolate flavor, for some reason since I love chocolate, but the strawberry one I do like. Mixes well with anything (I use milk almost every time), and often add my own fruit to the drink, strawberries, bananas, what ever you fancy. Not too expensive either for a couple of pounds, and using the subscribe and save, even a better deal. Wish Optimum Nutrition would allow subscribe and save 'again'. I started the S&S on Amazon, and when the second shipment from ON was due, they pulled the plug. Now you have to just order when you want it.But I like this brand, and it helps save a little money by not having to buy the big brands (like ON) all the time.5
